Youth Hockey Tournaments

THE ICELANDIC YOUTH INVITATIONAL

The Icelandic Invitational is a youth event scheduled with Icelandic ice hockey teams during U.S.A and Canadian holidays and long weekends. The Icelandic teams love to play against international competition, and are willing to set up round robin tournaments if an international team would like to play in Iceland. For example, Travel and Play have scheduled events over Columbus Day weekend, President’s Day weekend and during spring break in the USA, and during the Easter Break or mid winter break in Canada (or even during non holiday weekends).

Events can be scheduled for boys teams aged U12 through U16 and aimed at the A to AA level. If a tournament event is scheduled early enough, the event is listed on the Travel and Play website and hopefully attracts additional USA, Canadian and mainland European teams.

The tournament base is the Egilsholl ice arena located in Iceland’s capital city of Reykjavik and home of Bjorninn Ice Hockey Club. You have the opportunity to practice, play four tournament games, and end your tour with a social event and awards dinner at the rink. Your hotel is located in central Reykjavik, close to restaurants, shopping and many local attractions.

In addition, you can visit some of Iceland’s cultural, scenic and historical treasures. Your trip includes a guided walking tour of Reykjavik, a visit to a thermal bath (an Icelandic tradition) and a number of optional sightseeing excursions such as the unforgettable Golden Circle tour which includes Thingvellir National Park, Gullfoss Waterfall and Geysir geothermal area; glacier walking, horse-riding and the Blue Lagoon.

Teams can just fly in for the tournament or extend their stay on the front end or back end of the trip. All tours can be customized to meet the needs of each team.
